Satellite Community Gardens

MSSBG integrates with the community for conservation and sustainable utilization of four key sectors of biodiversity such as crop diversity, curative diversity (medicinal plants), culinary diversity (traditional and wild food plant diversity) and the Rare-Endemic-Threatened (RET) tree species of the Malabar region. Custodian farmers associated with the garden are engaged in on-farm conservation of diverse bio-resources. MSSBG embodies the concept of partnership programme with the satellite community networks to conserve the rich diverse natural wealth, genetic diversity in achieving food, nutrition and health security while preserving their cultural heritage.
