General Information:

Symplocos is a genus of flowering plants in the order Ericales. It contain about 300 species distributed in Asia and America. Family symplocaceae plants in this family are shrubs and tress with white or yellow flower. The yellow-tipped white flowers are 10 mm long and occur in axillary inflorescences from April to June. Leaves are simple, alternate estipulate. The oval fruits are bluish when ripe, 10–14 mm long, containing three seeds. Oval fruit is bluish in color. Among the Symplocos species, Symplocos cochinchinensis is very important species which is otherwise known as kabli-vetti or Lodh tree is widely distributed in tropical, subtropical areas in Asia, and America.
