Lianas are woody climbers that germinate on the ground but do not have the ability to support to ascend to the canopy. Special efforts in conserving these species will have an additional benefit as they are important inter crown pathways for many canopy dwelling animals. This region of the garden has around 600 individuals of 100 species in which 25 are endemic to Western Ghats and 22 are rare. The main attractions of this sector are Hiptage bengalensis, Kunstleria keralensis, Bauhinia phoenicea, Beaumontia jerdoniana, Jasminum malabaricum, Salacia fruticosa and so on.
